I started my attempts at photography by ruining all the snaps I took with my dad's (analog) Nikon - I was the kid who had all the overexposed snaps. All that kinda changed when I got my first digital camera , a Sony DSC-P93. Somehow, it just felt right in my hand and from then on I've been a happy photographer. However, I realized after a while that the 3x zoom and lack of manual control were making me itch to get a new camera. So, Anshul and I pulled an all-nighter discussing the virtues of a Sony DSC-H1, the Canon S2IS and the Panasonic Z-30 and finally after a lot of discussion, settled on the S2IS. My camera is nearly 3 years old now and still going strong. Someday, I will brainwash myself (or a friend/relative) enough to pick up a DSLR.
